For many thousands of schools, Anti-Bullying Week has become a
key date in the annual calendar and, in the past, ABA has had
financial support from the government to provide free resources.
However, since 2010, ABA has had to raise its own funds for the
Week. There are several ways you can help us to ensure the future
of this important campaign and the ongoing work of the
Anti-Bullying Alliance.
Make a donation towards the cost of the Anti-Bullying
Week Briefing Pack:
A small donation from schools
that download the Anti-Bullying Week resources would make a great
contribution. We suggest £10 (primary schools) or £20 (secondary
schools). Please make your cheques payable to ABA and send
to NCB Finance Department, 8, Wakeley Street London EC1V 7QE.
You can also donate via the ABA UK Virgin Money Giving
Account.
Blue
Monday – a great opportunity to raise
funds:
ABA received feedback from schools
that the last day of Anti-Bullying Week was not the best day to
encourage whole-school involvement and so we have changed Blue
Friday to Blue Monday!
Blue Monday is an opportunity for all members of a school
community to take part in activities to launch Anti-Bullying
Week – some ‘blue-themed’ ideas from previous years include:
wearing blue for the day, releasing blue balloons, and designing a
mural of blue handprints that include your commitments for tackling
bullying.
You can also use Blue Monday to raise funds for ABA by:
- selling fairy cakes with blue icing or cakes with blue flags
that each have an anti-bullying message
- buying and selling ABA merchandise (visit the ABA shop)
- asking for a voluntary donation for wearing non-uniform
(preferably blue clothes!) on Blue Monday
- holding a tea party for parents and carers, or members of the
wider community, and asking for voluntary donations
- holding an art show, drama or musical performance that’s open
to members of the public and asking for donations
- holding sponsored events such as marathons, knit-offs,
dance-offs, paper-chain making and game playing (for example,
Scrabble – but a version where you only use words that are
compliments!).
Visit the Anti-Bullying Week shop:
Buying
pencils, posters and badges from the ABA Shop will help to liven up your school’s
campaign and at the same time help to fund the Week.
Join the hundreds of schools and colleges already signed up to the
ABA School and College Network:
The ABA School and College Network was set up in
January 2011 to support schools and colleges, all year round, with
preventing and responding to bullying. Membership brings a whole
range of benefits including termly bulletins, special offers, and
access to advice and support.
