28 October 2010
To mark the launch of Anti-Bullying Week
2010 on Monday 15 November, Beatbullying will join
forces with organisations such as The Office of the Children’s
Commissioner, Action for Children, Children England,
Raceonline2012, Demos and partnering with companies including
Facebook, YouTube and MTV to hold the world’s first ever virtual
march. The Big March will see tens of thousands of avatars of
children, parents, teachers and celebrities march across computer
screens via more than fifty partners’ websites to take a stand
against bullying. Culminating at 10 Downing Street, marchers will
hand over a petition asking Government for help to protect children
from bullying, violence and harassment. The campaign is also asking
for a Big March Bullying Review to investigate how
Government, schools, families and communities can reduce incidents
of bullying.
Organisations, schools and individuals can join The Big March
now at the campaign website, the
Big
March
Park.
The site is packed with interactive content and virtual tents
pitched by charities and partner organisations.
Here, children, parents and teachers alike can engage with a
variety of educational and fun activities promoting children’s
wellbeing and get practical advice on how to deal with
bullying.
You can also get information about The Big March on
Facebook and follow the campaign on
Twitter.
